APPROPRIATION 1.1-i’mlovin’it ?

im lovin it

Here is my first attempt at exploring appropriation, its simple purpose is to represent the common conception that the standard of a McDonald’s burger is far lower than what is advertised. this piece is also interesting as the banned being held up in the picture is a real McDonald’s advertisement from their 2013 marketing team.

I decided to create this image after seeing the “McFat” piece by Adbusters, which works to show another reality of their products here is the image: (source)

APPROPRIATION 1.2-A PRICE FOR BEEF

Deforistation for beef

This is my second appropriation piece “A PRICE FOR BEEF”, this is to show the cost of the animal agriculture industry and two popular faces used to cover the facts. This piece is also my most serious message that I wish to relay whereas my other pieces are more laid back and comical.

Inspiration for this piece comes from the 2014 documentary Cowspiracy which highlights the effect of animal agriculture and the impact it is having on our planet(source)cowspiracy

APPROPRIATION 1.3-BUSH UNTO BUSH

Bush unto Bush

This is my third piece “BUSH UNTO BUSH”, this a comical look at the two former presidents of the United States ‘George W H Bush’ and his son ‘George W Bush’ bestowing the possible 2016 election to ‘Jeb W Bush’. This also plays on their deeply religious Christian views which is often used to justify action. Ive chosen ‘George W Bush’ to be the most prominent figure in this piece as in my opinion he is the most infamous of the three.

Inspiration for this piece came from years of watching ‘Daily Show’ (source) which consists of a great deal of political themed comedy.
