HOME 4.1 – BOAT

My first home piece may be my favourite, the vibrancy of the boat in contrast to the soft green of the leaves and the strong shadows cast by the tree. I also have an interest in nature mixed with man-made structures.

For me home is a combination of nature, and scenic location’s that have their own charter.

Inspiration for this piece came from John Barsby’s work on the contrast of colours. This use of contrasting imagery is something I would like to look at further in my work.

Below is an example of John Barsby’s work which I took direct inspiration from. (source).

PORTRAIT 3.3 – Self

This is my self portrait, after many attempts of trial and error I ended up on this picture, I wanted it to portray how relaxed and chilled out I try to be in life.

I also decided to upload my second choice as I was torn between which to pick.

This work was inspired by Michael Ray who has an impressive range of portrait photos that utilise a shallow depth of field. (source)pittsburgh_photography_03

PORTRAIT 3.2 – Stranger

This is my stranger piece, I photographed many people whilst walking around Lincoln but this was my favourite. The definition of his beard combined with the different colours caused by smoking made him an ideal subject.

PORTRAIT 3.1- Friend

This is my first piece of photography for my portrait brief, using a 50 mm lens I acquired a close shot of my friend with a shallow depth of field. His bag also added colour with the different checkers on the straps that made it the perfect choiceFriend

STILL LIFE 2.1 – Dr Vans

Triptych

Here is my still life work, this is a statuette approach to photographing my two pairs of Vans and my Dr Martins, of all the items given to me these are perhaps the most important and represent my personality and fashion choice.

The inspiration for this piece is drawn from Lauren Ellis, whose work on typology is what I based my appreach on. Below is an example of her work and a link to her blog: (source).
