HOME 4.6 – BLUE UMBRELLA

My final piece was of another alleyway that was extremely busy, after trying to take a picture without people I decided to change my approach and see what I could do with subjects naturally passing through. After many attempts I ended on  this, Blue Umbrella, which with the contrast of the red light in the foreground made for an interesting piece._MG_9038

Inspiration for choosing this piece comes from the main storyline in How I Met Your Mother, with the iconic ‘Girl with the yellow umbrella’. (source)

HOME 4.5 – THE DOOR

Continuing my fascination with alleyways, this piece feels a little more mysterious with a door at the end that could lead anywhere.

As well as the previously mentioned book: Hidden City: The Secret Alleys, Courts and Yards of London’s Square Mile, this image also reminds me of The Twilight Zone introduction with a mysterious door leading to a different dimension. (source)

HOME 4.3 – ALWAYS IN THE PAST

I love this  image as to me its like a time capsule, I have a love for old alleyways as they often don’t get a facelift like the front of buildings do and keep their original character._MG_9041

An interesting reference for this interest is a book called: Hidden City: The Secret Alleys, Courts and Yards of London’s Square Mile. This looks at hidden gems in the heart of London and the historical significance behind them. (source)

HOME 4.2 – BLACK TREE

This to me appeared burnt, thought it isn’t my initial thought was that even a burnt tree can still give new life to its leaves.

Inspiration for my thought process behind this is linked to Phoenix mythology, the idea of new life being born from the ashes: source.
